Tupatáro: The Church of Santiago de Tupátaro has transformed this lovely village into a site of significant historical and cultural importance.  One of Mexico’s few colonial churches unscathed by subsequent renovation, Santiago de Tupátaro preserves a seventeenth century coffered ceiling unique in Mexico. The church’s altar piece is a beautiful synergism of Spanish piety and Indigenous artistry.
